We are the Robotics and Intelligent Systems (EPIIBOTS) Research Group (http://dgp.cnpq.br/dgp/espelhogrupo/457477) led by prof. Elias J. R. Freitas and prof. Listz S. Araújo.
Our group began its activities in 2019 (May 13th) and currently maintains active collaborations with four Brazilian institutions: the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG – Campi Ibirité and Itabirito), Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais (CEFET-MG), Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), and Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP).
Our mission is to promote scientific and technological progress through applied research, innovation, and education in robotics and intelligent systems.
Our research is organized into the following major areas:
Mobile Robotics (Aerial and Ground):
Development of autonomous systems for ground and aerial robotic platforms with applications in inspection, mapping, environmental monitoring. Our studies cover path and trajectory planning, localization, navigation, and control in dynamic and uncertain environments.
Intelligent Systems and Computational Intelligence:
Development of intelligent systems, applying computer vision, artificial intelligence techniques, optimization algorithms, sensor fusion, control, and embedded electronics.
Educational Robotics and STEM:
Development and implementation of low-cost robotic kits and activities to promote hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We actively engage with local schools and communities to encourage interest in robotics from early education to high school. In addition, we support and mentor students in participating in robotics competitions and science olympiads, including the Brazilian Robotics Olympiad (OBR) and other regional and national STEM challenges.
